1 Getting Started
Checking the Battery Level
Check the battery power level before taking pictures. For guidelines on battery usage, see Using Your Batteries.

Turn the camera on.

Check the battery status symbol that appears on the LCD.
Full —batteries have adequate power.
Low —batteries need to be replaced or recharged soon.
Exhausted (blinking) —batteries are too weak to power the camera. Replace or recharge the batteries.
When the batteries are exhausted, the ready light blinks red for 5 seconds, then the camera turns off.
IMPORTANT BATTERY INFORMATION
For acceptable battery life and dependable operation, do not use alkaline batteries.
These activities can shorten battery life:

Using the LCD as the viewfinder (see Previewing Your Picture on the LCD)

Reviewing your pictures on the LCD (see Displaying the Picture Just Taken)

Excessive use of the flash
