Camera problems

If... Try one or more the following

Camera does not turn on

Camera does not turn off

  • Remove the battery, then reinsert or replace it. If the cameras still does not function, visit www.kodak.com/go/c530support and select Interactive Troubleshooting & Repairs.

Pictures remaining number does not decrease after taking a picture

  • The camera is operating normally. Continue taking pictures.

Short battery life with Kodak Ni-MH rechargeable digital camera batteries.

Stored pictures are corrupted.

  • Retake picture. Do not remove card while the ready light is blinking. Keep rechargeable batteries charged.

In Review mode, you do not see a picture (or the expected picture) on the LCD screen.

  • Check the image storage location setting ( ).

In Review mode, a blue or black screen is displayed instead of a picture.

Shutter button does not work.

Slide show does not run on external video device.

  • Adjust the camera Video Out setting (NTSC or PAL, ).

  • See the external device's user's guide.

Picture is too light.

  • Move so there is at least 3.3 ft (1.0 m) between camera and subject.

  • Decrease Exposure Compensation ( ).

Picture is not clear.

  • Clean the lens (Additional care and maintenance).

  • Move so there is at least 3.3 ft (1.0 m) between the camera and the subject.

  • Place the camera on a flat, steady surface or use a tripod.

Picture is too dark.

  • Turn on the flash (Using the flash ).

  • Move so there is no more than 7.9 ft (2.4 m) between the camera and the subject.

  • Use Fill flash (Choosing a flash setting) or change your position so light is not behind the subject.

  • Increase Exposure Compensation ( ).

Camera does not recognize SD/MMC card.

  • Purchase a certified SD/MMC card.

  • Reformat the card ( ).

    Caution: Formatting a card deletes all pictures and videos, including protected files.

  • Insert a card into the slot, then push to seat (Storing pictures on an SD/MMC card).

Camera freezes up when a card is inserted or removed.

  • Turn the camera off, then back on. Make sure the camera is turned off before inserting or removing a card.

Memory card full.

Caution: Formatting a card deletes all pictures and videos, including protected files.
