Camera problems

Status Solution

Camera does not turn on, off; buttons do not function.

Camera freezes when a card is inserted or removed.

  • Turn the camera off, then back on. Make sure the camera is turned off before inserting or removing a card.

LCD is too dark.

  • Adjust the LCD Brightness setting ( ).

In Review, a blue or black screen is displayed instead of a picture.

  • Transfer the picture to the computer (Transferring, sharing pictures), then format the card or internal memory ( ).

    Caution: Formatting a card deletes all pictures and videos.

  • Take another picture.

In Review, you do not see a picture (or the expected picture) on the LCD.

  • Format the card in the camera ( )

    Caution: Formatting a card deletes all pictures and videos.

Flash does not fire.

  • Check the flash setting, and change as needed (Using the Flash button).

    NOTE: The flash does not fire in all modes.

Memory card is almost or entirely full.

The Reset All Camera Settings feature did not take effect.

  • After using the Reset All Camera Settings feature ( ), turn the camera off and then on again.

Battery life is short.

Shutter button does not work.

Zoom does not always work.

Memory card not recognized.

  • Card may be corrupted. Format the card in the camera ( ).

    Caution: Formatting a card deletes all pictures and videos.

  • Use another memory card.

Pictures on card (or in internal memory) are corrupted.

  • Retake pictures.

  • Do not remove card while the camera is on.

  • Keep the rechargeable batteries charged.

  • Transfer pictures to the computer (Transferring, sharing pictures), then format the card or internal memory ( ).

    Caution: Formatting a card deletes all pictures and videos.
