5 Troubleshooting
If...

Try one or more of the following

Picture is too dark or underexposed
|

Use Fill flash (Changing the flash settings) or change your position so light is not behind the subject.

Move so that the distance between you and the subject is within the effective flash range (Using the flip-up flash).

To automatically set exposure and focus, press the Shutter button halfway. When the AF/AE indicator turns green, press the Shutter button completely down to take the picture.

Adjust exposure compensation (Adjusting exposure compensation).

Picture is too light
|

Turn flash off (Changing the flash settings).

Move so that the distance between you and the subject is within the effective flash range (Using the flip-up flash).

Use P mode to adjust the Exposure.

Picture is not clear
|

Clean the lens (Additional care and maintenance).

Make sure camera is not in Close-up mode if you are more than 21 in. (0.7 m) from your subject.

Place the camera on a flat, steady surface or use a tripod, especially in high-zoom settings or in low light.
