Using the flash

Use the flash when you take pictures at night, indoors, or outdoors in heavy shadows.

Flash range

Wide Angle

1.5 - 7.2 ft (0.5 - 2.2 m)

Telephoto

1.5 - 4.3 ft (0.5 - 1.3 m)

Flash Mode

Flash Fires

Auto

When the lighting conditions require it (in a dark environment or the subject is "backlit", for example).

Off

Never. Use to deactivate the flash even in a dark environment. Hold the camera steady.

Red-eye

Once so the subject's eyes become accustomed to the flash, then fires again when the picture is taken.

Fill

Every time you take a picture, regardless of the lighting conditions. Use to soften the shadow on a face, for example.

Slow Sync Red-eye

Activates red-eye mode at slow shutter speed.Taking pictures of people with night backgrounds. Hold the camera steady.
