Mode Dial Settings

Purpose |

Off |
Turns off the camera. |

Auto |
For general picture-taking. Automatically sets exposure and focus. Flash fires if needed. |
|
Sport |
For subjects that are in motion. Shutter speed is fast. Flash fires if needed. |
|
Night |
For night scenes or low light conditions. Captures close and background subjects. Flash fires if needed. In dark scenes, the shutter speed is set between 1/1700 and 1/2 second. Place camera on a flat, steady surface or tripod to avoid camera shake. |

Landscape |
For distant subjects. Flash does not fire unless you turn it on.* |

Close-up |
For subjects 6 to 27.5 in. (13 to 70 cm) from the lens. Flash does not fire unless you turn it on.* |
|
Video |
Captures video with sound. Flash does not fire. |
