Camera/Computer Communications
Problem | Cause | Solution |
---|---|---|
The computer cannot communicate with the camera. (For communication problems with a camera dock 6000, see Troubleshooting—Camera Dock 6000.) |
There is a problem with the configuration of the USB port on the computer. |

Camera power is off. |
Turn on the camera (Turning On the Camera). |

Battery is not charged. |
Recharge the battery (Charging the Battery). Use a Kodak: 5-Volt AC adapter, EasyShare camera dock 6000, or EasyShare printer dock 6000 to transfer pictures. |

Some Advanced Power Management utilities on laptops turn off ports to save battery life. |
See the Power Management section of the laptop user's guide to disable this feature. |

USB cable is not securely connected. |
Connect cable to camera and computer port (Transferring Pictures With the USB Cable). |

Software is not installed. |
Install the software (Install the Software). |
Software is installed incorrectly. |
Disconnect the USB cable. Close all open applications. Uninstall, then re-install the software (Install the Software). To uninstall, go to Start/Settings/ Control Panel/Add/Remove Programs. |

Too many applications are running on the computer. |
Disconnect camera from the computer. Close all software applications, reconnect camera. |

Cannot transfer pictures. (The Add New Hardware Wizard cannot locate drivers.) |
Software is not installed. |
Disconnect USB cable. (If using camera dock, disconnect cable and remove camera from dock). Install EasyShare software (Install the Software). |
Software is installed incorrectly. |
Disconnect the USB cable. Close all open applications. Uninstall, then re-install the software (Install the Software). To uninstall, go to Start/Settings/ Control Panel/Add/Remove Programs. |

USB cable was connected during software installation. Camera is listed as an unknown device (PC only). |
Delete camera from Device Manager: Right-click on My Computer, go to Properties/Hardware/Device Manager/Other Devices/ (delete this entry: ?Kodak ES camera) |
