5 Troubleshooting
If...

Try one or more of the following
|
Picture is too dark or underexposed
|

Use Fill flash () or change your position so light is not behind the subject.

Move so that the distance between you and the subject is within the effective flash range (Using the flip-up flash ).

To automatically set exposure and focus, press the Shutter button halfway and hold. When the AE/AF indicator turns green, press the Shutter button completely down to take the picture.

Use P mode to adjust the Exposure and Flash Compensations (Changing PASM or C mode settings).

Use P mode (Changing PASM or C mode settings) and Selectable AF Zone (see table on PASM and C menu options).

Picture is too light or overexposed
|

Turn flash off (Using the flip-up flash ).

Move so that the distance between you and the subject is within the effective flash range (Using the flip-up flash ).

To automatically set exposure and focus, press the Shutter button halfway and hold. When the AE/AF indicator turns green, press the Shutter button completely down to take the picture.

Picture is not clear
|

To automatically set exposure and focus, press the Shutter button halfway and hold. When the AE/AF indicator turns green, press the Shutter button completely down to take the picture.

Clean the lens (Additional care and maintenance).

Make sure camera is not in Macro AF mode if you are outside of the Macro AF setting or the Flower and Close-up mode specifications.

Make sure camera is not in Telephoto mode if you are closer than the telephoto focus specification.

Place the camera on a flat, steady surface or use a tripod, especially in high-zoom settings or in low light.
