Camera/computer communications
Problem | Cause | Solution |
---|---|---|
The computer cannot communicate with the camera. |
There is a problem with the configuration of the USB port on the computer. |

Camera power is off. |
Turn on the camera (Turning on the camera). |

Batteries are exhausted or are not charged. |
Install new batteries (Loading the batteries) or charge rechargeable batteries. |

Some Advanced Power Management utilities on laptops turn off ports to save battery life. |
See the Power Management section of the laptop user's guide to disable this feature. |

USB cable is not securely connected. |
Connect cable to camera and computer port (Transferring pictures with the USB cable). |

Software is not installed. |
Install the software (Installing the software). |
|
Software is installed incorrectly. |
Disconnect the USB cable. Close all open applications. Re-install the software (Installing the software). |
|
Too many applications are running on the computer. |
Disconnect camera from the computer. Close all software applications, reconnect camera. |
|
The Battery Monitor or similar software runs constantly. |
Close that software before starting the Kodak software. |
|
Cannot transfer pictures. (The Add New Hardware Wizard cannot locate drivers.) |
Software is not installed. |
Disconnect USB cable. (If using camera dock or printer dock, disconnect cable and remove camera from dock). Close all open applications. Re-install the software (Installing the software). |
Software is installed incorrectly. |
Disconnect the USB cable. Close all open applications. Re-install the software (Installing the software). |
