Camera/computer communications

Problem Cause Solution

The computer cannot communicate with the camera.

There is a problem with the configuration of the USB port on the computer.

Camera power is off.

Turn on the camera (Turning on the camera).

Batteries are exhausted or are not charged.

Install new batteries (Loading the batteries) or charge rechargeable batteries.

Some Advanced Power Management utilities on laptops turn off ports to save battery life.

See the Power Management section of the laptop user's guide to disable this feature.

USB cable is not securely connected.

Connect cable to camera and computer port (Transferring pictures with the USB cable).

Software is not installed.

Install the software (Installing the software).

Software is installed incorrectly.

Disconnect the USB cable. Close all open applications. Re-install the software (Installing the software).

Too many applications are running on the computer.

Disconnect camera from the computer. Close all software applications, reconnect camera.

The Battery Monitor or similar software runs constantly.

Close that software before starting the Kodak software.

Cannot transfer pictures.

(The Add New Hardware Wizard cannot locate drivers.)

Software is not installed.

Disconnect USB cable. (If using camera dock or printer dock, disconnect cable and remove camera from dock). Close all open applications. Re-install the software (Installing the software).

Software is installed incorrectly.

Disconnect the USB cable. Close all open applications. Re-install the software (Installing the software).
